The NFL in this Moment - Week 14

NFL Week 14

Week 13 was incredibly unlucky for us as we lost heavily on the Patriots and the Chargers @ 12/5 were our only winner going into Monday night where our bets on the Jets were too small to have much effect either way. In the past we have bounced back in these situations so there is that. Starting this week wee change to our final format of the year – Projecting each Divisional Final Standing and selecting from there.

This weekend the 4/7 New England Patriots travel to San Diego to face the 8/5 Chargers who just beat the west/east bias and the decent Baltimore Ravens last week. Both teams need to win, the Patriots for home-field and the Chargers to stay in the hunt. After the serious coaching deficiencies the Patriots showed last week the 8/5 Chargers look like the better bet. The 26/5 Buffalo Bills are in Denver to play the 1/5 Broncos with little to recommend. The 20/33 Dolphins host the 29/20 Ravens with both teams striving to keep dwindling play-of hopes alive. The Ravens should win easily as the Dolphins, who were just bowled over by the Jets on the ground, continue their annual fade. Speaking of the Jets, they travel to Minnesota to play another winnable game running the on the frozen tundra if they actually allow Geno Smith to throw the ball.

Johnny Football came in in relief for Brian Hoyer in Buffalo and lit a fire under the Browns but the game was out of reach last week however he is going to lead the Browns to four straight wins and the AFC North title starting this week when the 1/2 Indianapolis Colts come into Cleveland as road favorites with a suspect defence and a one-dimensional attack with an inflated record due to their soft schedule ripe for the picking by the 17/10 Browns. ***Johnny Football is out as the Browns are sticking with Hoyer, as are we*** The 29/20 Pittsburgh Steelers visit the very beatable 20/33 Bengals who would have lost to Tampa last week if not for a Lovie Smith coaching gaffe. The 29/20 Ravens are in Miami as above.

Bet the Cleveland Browns @ 17/10
Bet the Pittsburgh Steelers @ 29/20
Bet the Baltimore Ravens @ 29/20

The 4/7 Colts are on their way to 17/10 Cleveland where Johnny Football won't thump them (Hoyer will). The 5/12 Texans will likely beat the 2/1 Jags again while the 10/11 Titans may very well beat the 10/11 Giants.

The 1/5 Broncos will likely dispose of the 7/2 Bills in short order but at no price, but Denver is ripe for an upset. The 20/21 Chiefs are in Arizona against the 20/23 Cards in a game that could go to OT tied at zero. The 13/4 Raiders host 2/9 San Francisco from across the bay and as much as we would like to see the home team win we can’t bet on it. The 33/20 Chargers host a road favored 10/17 Patriot squad that Green Bay showed up the deficiencies of, especially of the coaching variety, where we expect them to win enroute to running the table again this year.

Bet the San Diego Chargers @ 33/20

PHI      12     4

The 20/23 Eagles host a 20/21 Seahawk team trying desperately to get back to the play-offs. Hard to imagine Sanchez succeeding against the Seahawks defence however equally hard to see Russell Wilson scoring enough points to beat a Chip Kelly team – Avoid. Tony Romo is finished as the 1/2 Cowboys continue their inexorable slide to 8-8 at the 17/10 Bears where it is equally difficult to bet Smokin’ Jay Cutler. Colt McCoy will try to lead the 13/10 Redskins to a home win over the 4/6 Rams and we think he will so long as he mostly hands off to Morris. The 10/1 Giants continue their season of misery against the 10/11 Titans in a match worth avoiding.

Bet the Washington Redskins @ 13/10

The 2/13 Packers will be un-bettable the rest of the year after beating the Patriots easily unless they lose which is unlikely vs the 9/2 Falcons. The 1/5 Lions host a 7/2 Bucs squad that was a dumb penalty away from beating the Bengals last week as we expect the annual Lions choke to gather steam here. The 17/10 Bears host a 1/2 Cowboys squad with a hurting Tony Romo where if you were braver than us you could bet Cutler. Teddy’s team, the 10/33 Minnesota Vikings, host the 5/2 New York Jets in another game one would do well to avoid.

The 7/2 Panthers visit the 1/5 Saints where they hope to hand New Orleans their 4th straight home loss. As the Saints have no defence, we wouldn’t bet against it. 9/2 Atlanta visits 2/13 Green Bay as the Falcons try to make it two in a row over teams with the best record in the NFC. Problem here is that Green Bay has a quarterback, a pretty good one at that and 7/2 Tampa visits 1/5 Detroit as above where we predict an upset.

Bet the Tampa Bay Bucs @ 7/2
Take a Flyer on the Atlanta Falcons – Woof Woof Go!!! @ 9/2

The 20/21 Seahawks visit the 20/23 Eagles as above in an impossible to call game. The 20/23 Cardinals host the 20/21 Chiefs in a game where there may be no touchdowns, or even scoring for that matter. We already took the 13/10 Redskins to beat the 4/6 Rams while the 2/9 49ers visit the 13/4 Raiders at a price too short to take.
