The NFL this weekend September 19th to September 23rd of 2013

The NFL this weekend September 19th to September 23rd of 2013

Week 3 kicked off on Thursday with an anticipated Win by KC over Philadelphia.  2-14 no more in KC.  Other games we see are:

1) 09/22/13 - (10/11) New York (+1.5)  AT  (10/11) Carolina (-1.5)

The G-Men lost a couple of tough games to open in Dallas then against a hot-early Bronco squad while Carolina has disappointed after a big finish last year.  Look for the Giants to win their first of 9 or 10 this year.

Selection:   (10/11) New York Giants (+1.5)

2)
 09/22/13 - (11/4) Tampa Bay (+7.0)  AT  (2/7) New England (-7.0)

Tampa has lost 2 very close games after entering the season with great expectations while the Patriots have won (just barely) both of their games ugly. Normally we would say take the odds and points with Tampa Bay however New England, who won 3 superbowls with their defense, again has 4 dynamite DLmen and 4 very solid DB’s along with 3 very good LB’s plus promising rookies spelling all 3 positions. Brady will put up a lot of points eventually but maybe not yet so take the Pats but don’t give the points.

Selection:   (2/7) New England Patriots

3)
09/22/13 - (5/2) Cleveland (+7.0)  AT  (1/3) Minnesota (-7.0)

Cleveland has improved a lot however they have a brutal schedule, are in a very tough division and have a sub par QB.  Minnesota would be a very strong playoff team except they have a terrible starting QB.  Until the Vikings go to the best QB on their roster (Matt Cassel who makes a lot more money than Ponder) all a team must do is limit Adrian to less than 200 yards.  We see the Browns as capable of that.

Selection:    (5/2) Cleveland Browns (+7.0)

4)
 09/22/13 - (13/10) San Diego (+3.0)  AT  (4/6) Tennessee (-3.0)

San diego has been very impressive thus far playing great against Houston (lost by 3 after leading much of the game) and beating the Eagles as Philip Rivers seems to have his mojo back.  Tennessee is playing better as well. We see San Diego back in the playoffs this year however and to get there these types of games are must wins.

Selection:   (13/10) San Diego Chargers (+3.0)

5)
09/22/13 - (13/10) Atlanta (+3.0)  AT  (4/6) Miami (-3.0)

Miami has improved along with Buffalo marking the resurgance of the AFC East and is 2-0 whereas Atlanta had the best record in the NFC last year and should be at least back in the playoffs this year. Miami is unlikely to go 16-0 this year hence will lose some games starting most probably with this one.

Selection:   (13/10) Atlanta Falcons (+3.0)

6)
09/22/13 - (6/5) Buffalo (+2.5)  AT  (5/7) New York (-2.5)

Both teams lost close ones to the Patriots & won their other game, have very good defenses and have rookie QB’s driving the train however the Bills have a new coach wheras Rex is in the last year of his contract and doesn’t have the offensive guns to compete in the vastly improved AFC East.  As for this particular game, Buffalo’s rookie QB seems further along than New York’s and that should make the difference.

Selection:   (6/5) Buffalo Bills (+2.5)

OTHER PLAYS

09/22/13 - (10/11) Detroit (+1.5)  AT  (10/11) Washington (-1.5)
Selection:   (10/11) Detroit Lions (+1.5)
09/22/13 - (10/13) Houston (-2.0)  AT  (11/10) Baltimore (+2.0)
Selection:   (10/13) Houston Texans (-2.0)
09/22/13 - (4/6) Green Bay (-3.0)  AT  (13/10) Cincinnati (+3.0)
Selection:   (13/10) Cincinnati Bengals (+3.0))
09/22/13 - (10/13) Chicago (-2.0)  AT  (11/10) Pittsburg (+2.0)
Selection:   (10/13) Pittsburg Steelers (+2.0)

Detroit is again playing like a 12-4 team instead of a 4-12 one while Washington has struggled. RGIII looks pretty ordinary with his blazing speed missing. Houston always seems to win a lot of consecutive games out of the gate while Baltimore is still adjusting to the new personnel groupings.  Green Bay seems to have lost some lustre while the Bengals continue to improve.  Chicago is overrated while Pittsburg is winless.  Can’t see Cutler sending Steelers to 0-3 at home.
