Week Three
Sunday's Games
11/10 Philadelphia Eagles +2 AT 10/13 New York Jets (-2) O/U 46
For those who are waiting for the wheels to fall off with Fitzpatrick under center, please note that his passer rating (94.3) is actually a point lower than it was in Houston over 12 games last year. The new rules protecting quarterbacks have resulted in guys like Fitzpatrick and Palmer hanging around long enough to learn how to play their position much better. The Eagles have not yet gotten their offence to fire and if rumors of Sanchez replacing Bradford turn out to be true it is going to get pretty ugly in Philly. The Jets defence at home under an actual defensive specialist like Bowles (as opposed to poser Rex) is definitely not the prescription for an ailing offence.
Selection: New York Jets @ 10/13 - 5 Units/ New York Jets (-2) - 5 Units/16
10/11 Pittsburgh Steelers Push AT 10/11 St. Louis Rams Push O/U 47.5
Week three has been notoriously unproductive for us over the years (take a look at who either didn't win or didn't cover last year - New England, Green Bay, Denver and heavily favored San Fran top the list) so we will keep the number of selections low this week however it is hard to believe that the Steelers are not favored here. Pittsburgh thumped Week one winners San Francisco with authority with the only blemish on their record a loss to New England's starting 22. Only Green Bay, at home, has been able to beat New England's starters since the now infamous Kansas City debacle (Buffalo's Week 17 win over Garrapolo last season doesn't count) last September. The Rams meanwhile were well beaten as recently as last week by Kirk Cousins and the quickly rising Redskins. While Washington is playing much better this year (especially with Booby Griffin the tird out of the picture) the are not up there with the elite teams just yet.
Selection: Pittsburgh Steelers @ 10/11 - 5 Units/11
5/6 Atlanta Falcons (-1) AT 1/1 Dallas Cowboys (+1) O/U 45
Even with the loss of Dez Bryant Tony Romo was still able to mount a passing attack to mask the Cowboy's miniscule running game. Now with Romo out for 3 months and Matt Cassel a week or two from starting the mantle falls to Brandon Weedon. Dan Quinn will have the answer as the much-improved Falcons will go to 3-0 after this game.
Selection: Atlanta Falcons @ 5/6 - 3 Units/Atlanta Falcons (-1) - 3 Units/17
Sunday Night Football
20/33 Denver Broncos (-3) AT 29/20 Detroit Lions (+3) O/U 44.5
Last year the Lions beat the Packers at home week 3- Why not Denver this year?
Selection: Detroit Lions @ 29/20 - 3 Units/ Detroit Lions +3- 3 Units/23
Monday Night Football
5/2 Kansas City Cheifs (-6.5) AT 1/3 Green Bay Pakers (-6.5) O/U 49
Last year the Packers lost to Detroit Week 3 and KC put on a clinic demolishing New England on MNF Week four.
Selection: Kansas City @ 5/2 - 3 Units/ Kansas City +6.5- 3 Units/29
Thursday Night Football
6/4 Washington Redskins +3 AT 10/17 New York Giants (-3) O/U 44.5
Last year Kirk Cousins followed his very promising debut start by a four interception/five turnover performance in Washington against the same Giants. Well, not the same Giants. This year's version will be missing their top DB and their best pass rusher is still recovering from blowing half of his hand of on the fourth of July. Both of New York's losses have come as the result of bad clock management by Manning however Cousins & Co. will save them that trouble this week by keeping the Giants off the scoreboard until garbage time.
Selection: Washington Redskins @ 6/4 - 3 Units/Washington Redskins +3 - 3 Units/6
